Big Beautiful World 61 - Stillness, Hotel Milton, Milton, PA

It’s a big, beautiful world out there. Please enjoy it responsibly. I went walkabout in Milton the other day and wandered in front of the old Hotel Milton, 101 North Front St. The Big Book o' Photo Prompts prompted me to find something that embodies stillness, and there's nothing moving in this place except for peeling paint. Which is ironic, because there's a crazy way that the movement of the canopy's skeleton pulls--dare I say, compels?--the eye upward. Please note: it's a metal frame screwed into a building made out of stone, so it's not going anywhere.I can't decide if I like it better in color, or in black & white. Here's a little grayscale for you, and not the "turn your flesh to stone and drive you mad" Game of Thrones kind. Someone asked me why I took this picture and I thought...are you kidding? Who doesn't want to take photos of a dilapidated, strangely beautiful, probably haunted spooky old house with a giant metal cage in the front? I can't think of much that's better. And yes, those are drainage gargoyles hanging off the corners of the turrets. Turrets! More than one. I think I want to live here now.
