Big Beautiful World 68 - Red-Bellied Woodpecker, Lewisburg PA

It’s a big, beautiful world out there. Please enjoy it responsibly. I am so glad I have embraced how much I dig watching birds. Even though they are flying bellies and my need for bird seed is the ONE THING that will push me out of the house (yes, with a mask) during the coronavirus lockdown. They're super-pretty (well, mostly, and I'm looking at you, turkey vulture) even when they're jerks (more on the starling later) and they make my back yard all fluttery. Plus, the grass around the bird feeder is super-thick now and I don't think I need to speculate as to why. Here is a ridiculously cool red-bellied woodpecker, with the sunlight highlighting how delicate our feathered friends are. Even if this particular friend is named because of its ability to stab into a tree with its face. But he's on my feeder because, quite frankly, suet is much easier on the face for stabbing. How are we all holding up in the quaronatine? Stay safe! Wear a mask when you go out! Keep your distance! Tell your friends and family that you love them, as much as you can! See you on the flip side. xoxo
