Big Beautiful World 87 - Chairs, Art Academy, Milton, PA

Sometimes you get lucky enough in life that you make a friend who gives you the opportunity to run around this semi-dilapidated building that he’s been refinishing. Poke around in every closet, explore every cranny. Thanks, Steve! Can’t wait for another chance to crawl around at the Art Academy of Milton again!

I’m not sure why, but I have a thing for chairs, particularly if they’re not in formation as you would expect them to be used. If they’re set off on their own away from things like tables or other chairs, or stacked and inverted, I’m interested. Chairs are social, until they aren’t, and when they’re not set for socializing they’re kind of off-putting. Sad. Or forlorn. Or menacing. Chairs. Really.

Anyway, these beauties were in a closet, stacked in all their retro naugahyde glory waiting for their turn on the party floor.

It’s a good dilemma to have, to not know if you prefer them in color or in black and white.
